Ken Koelbl
Head Coach

Coach Koelbl is in his fifth season as head men's basketball coach at UW-La Crosse. Koelbl led the Eagles to a 19-8 overall record in 2007, including a 12-4 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Eagles’ 12 conference wins were the most since 1982-83 and the team recorded its second consecutive winning season for the first time since 1987- 88 and 1988-89. The Eagles also advanced to the conference tournament championship for the first time in school history. In the 2005-06 season UW-L finished 20-8 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.


Prior to taking the reigns at UW-L, Koelbl served as an assistant coach at UW-Stevens Point. He helped lead the Pointers to four straight WIAC championships, including a 24-4 overall record in 2003-04. UW-Stevens Point advanced to the NCAA III Tournament "Elite Eight" in 1997 and 2000.

Koelbl earned his bachelor's degree from Viterbo University (1990) and master's degree from South Dakota State University (1994). A collegiate basketball and baseball player, Koelbl was as a 1996 inductee into the Viterbo University Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a NAIA Baseball and Basketball District 14 selection in 1990.
